Research Scientist

After one year research at Gifu Pharmaceutical University, Japan, Dr. Shugeng Cao went back to P. R. China, and he was a lecturer at Hubei College of Pharmacy and Clinical Laboratory Sciences, P. R. China, before moving to the Republic of Singapore for his Doctorate at the Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore. After his graduate study, Dr. Cao joined MerLion Pharmaceuticals Pte Ltd (which was privatized from the Centre for Natural Product Research, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, Republic of Singapore) in 1998. Dr. Cao resigned from his position as a Senior Research Scientist at MerLion Pharma and joined Kingston Group at Virginia Tech in April 2003. At the moment, he is doing bioassay-guided isolation of anti-cancer, anti-malarial, and natural products active in the central nervous system from tropical plants and marine organisms.
